Job Description

Job Description and Duties

Under the general supervision of the Education Administrator I of the Academy, Apprenticeship, and Internship Office (AAIO), and working cooperatively with program units and supervisors throughout the California Department of Education, the Education Programs Consultant (EPC) performs consultative, developmental, and administrative tasks that support the implementation and administration of the programs and projects with which the AAIO is charged. These programs include the Golden State Pathways Program (GSPP); California Partnership Academies (CPA); and Arts, Media, and Entertainment; Internships and Apprenticeships. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Provide leadership and guidance for GSPP and CPA programs. Provide resources and technical expertise to facilitate program growth, improvement, and legislative compliance. Coordinate the efforts of state and regional technical assistance providers to strengthen and improve programs, provide communities of practice, ensure they are facilitating partnership and collaborative development, and ensure compliance with applicable mandates and regulations.

Work collaboratively as a member of the comprehensive AAIO team to support office-wide projects and initiatives through the following job functions:

• Read and review grant applications, making recommendations for funding.

• Analyze career education programs for areas of strength, needs for growth, and continuous improvement.

• Review and analyze reports and expenditures for compliance with program expenditure guidelines and make recommendations for future funding eligibility.

• Write, review, and monitor program-related contracts.

• Write and review program-related State Board of Education items.

• Write and review program-related Legislative Reports.

Personal Leave Program 2025

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. TELEWORK OPTION

HYBRID

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and working a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
