Mercy is seeking a skilled and compassionate Interventional Radiology Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team, supporting complex, image-guided procedures that directly impact patient outcomes. As an integral member of a multidisciplinary care team, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and after interventional radiology procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and clear communication throughout their experience. In this role, you will conduct thorough pre-procedure assessments, verify histories, medications, allergies, and consent, and collaborate with physicians, technologists, and anesthesia providers to develop individualized plans of care. You will prepare procedure rooms, maintain strict sterile technique, and assist with a wide range of interventional procedures such as vascular access, angiography, embolization, biopsies, drain placements, and other minimally invasive treatments. During procedures, you will administer and monitor moderate sedation as permitted by policy, continuously assess vital signs and hemodynamic status, recognize and respond promptly to any signs of instability, and document all aspects of patient care accurately in the electronic medical record. Following procedures, you will oversee patient recovery, manage pain and sedation reversal as appropriate, monitor access sites and dressings, and provide detailed post-procedure education to patients and families. You will play a key role in identifying and escalating emergent conditions, participating in code and rapid-response situations, and ensuring that quality and safety standards are consistently upheld. Your ability to communicate clearly, anticipate needs, and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment will be critical to success. At Mercy, we are committed to compassionate, patient-centered care and to supporting our nurses as professionals and individuals. You will work closely with radiologists, nurses, technologists, and support staff in a collaborative, respectful atmosphere that reflects Mercy’s culture of compassion, diversity, and innovation in patient care. You will be encouraged to engage in continuous learning, participate in ongoing education related to interventional radiology, sedation, radiation safety, and advanced procedures, and pursue specialty certification such as the Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN) credential. The ideal candidate brings strong critical-care or perioperative nursing skills, comfort with technology and monitoring equipment, and the ability to manage multiple complex patients throughout the procedural continuum. A solid foundation in assessment, cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, IV and central line management, and emergency response is essential. In return, Mercy offers the opportunity to contribute directly to lifesaving interventions, to see the impact of minimally invasive therapies on patient recovery, and to grow your career within a leading healthcare organization that prioritizes your professional development and wellbeing. This is an on-site, patient-facing role in the Interventional Radiology department, requiring flexibility with scheduling to support procedural volumes, including possible on-call, weekend, or holiday coverage as needed to provide continuous, high-quality care.
