Medical Records Director

The Department of Human Services (DHS), Clarks Summit State Hospital (CSSH) has the perfect opportunity for you! Our Medical Records Director oversees a busy, service-oriented Medical Records Department that is dedicated to the accuracy of electronic health record (EHR) input and maintenance. As a Medical Records Director, you will support the hospital by directing the efficient operations of the Medical Record Department. You will oversee medical records assembly, analysis, coding, transcription, filing, and correspondence. You will also serve as the secondary CSSH Trusted Agent for the EHR's direct secure messaging Health Information Service Provider (HISP) and collaborate with the primary Trusted Agent to monitor and facilitate hospital compliance with federal requirements related to use of direct secure messaging. This role requires keeping up-to-date with technology, legal and regulatory changes, and acceptable performance standards. In addition, you will:

  • Write policies and procedures
  • Design and conduct audits
  • Analyze and organize data
  • Develop performance improvements to support quality assurance initiatives

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Registration as a Medical Records Administrator with the American Health Information Management Association; or
  • Two years of experience as a Medical Records Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association; or
  • Four years of experience in the preparation, classification and abstracting of medical reports in a medical records department; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
