Job Summary:
The Orthopedic Technician is primarily responsible for applying and removing casts, splints, and braces.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Apply, adjust, and remove casts
• Measure and fit patients for braces and other orthopedic devices
• Assist Orthopedic Surgeon in reduction of fractures
• Instruct patients in proper care of cast and splints, including walking with casts and boots
• Instructing patients with the use of crutches and DME
• Change dressing and care for wounds
• Remove sutures, staples, etc.
• Order medical supplies and manage DME inventory
• Assist in making follow-up appointments and consultation appointments with specialists for patients.
• Adhere to established clinic/office policy and procedure directives
• EMR documentation of services performed
• Manage patient care flow by rooming patients in a timely manner, assuring x-rays are completed and informing physician when patient is ready to be seen.
• Perform a broad spectrum of duties including pre-visit preparation, assisting with the patient visit, and post-visit duties
• Perform other duties as required

• Knowledgeable of medical terminology and general medical practice operations.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Basic office skills such as typing, filing, and operating phones.

Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience in medical setting required
• ROT certification is a plus
• Casting experience is a plus


Physical Requirements:
• Standing, walking, sitting, bending
• Ability to safely lift up to 20lbs

This is an in-person position primarily based in Thibodaux, LA, with some travel required to additional clinic locations. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Typical schedule is Monday-Friday.
