The Construction Safety Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and managing safety training programs for construction employees, supervisors, and subcontractors. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices while promoting a strong culture of safety across all job sites. The trainer will lead company onboarding initiatives, including Launch (New hire orientation). Orientation programs and project-specific orientations at our innovation center as well as Industrial Construction jobsites, while serving as a coach and trusted resource for employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs for construction personnel.
  • Facilitate Launch! Orientation and project-specific orientation programs for new employees and contractors.
  • Conduct classroom, field, and hands-on safety training sessions.
  • Deliver OSHA 10-hour and OSHA 30-hour training programs, as qualified.
  • Conduct equipment-related training, including forklift and scissor lift operation and certification programs.
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and refresher training courses.
  • Evaluate employee knowledge retention and training effectiveness through testing, observations, and feedback.
  • Assist with jobsite audits, inspections, and incident investigations to identify training opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, presentations, videos, and other instructional content.
  • Maintain accurate training records and manage Learning Management System (LMS) requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Safety, and Project Management teams to address site-specific training needs.
  • Promote a coaching-focused approach to safety leadership and employee development.
  • Track and report training metrics, completion rates, and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 8–10 years of construction safety experience in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or related construction environments.
  • Experience delivering safety training programs and leading instructor-led training classes for adult learners.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926).
  • Experience conducting employee orientation and onboarding programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel to jobsites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred.
  • OSHA 500/510 certifications or OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer credentials.
  • Forklift Trainer Certification.(or ability to obtain)
  • Scissor Lift / Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Trainer Certification. (or ability to obtain)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills strongly preferred.

  • Comfortable standing in front of employees and delivering training in classroom and field environments.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring mindset with the ability to influence safe behaviors.
  • Experienced in creating training content, presentations, and instructional materials.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training record management.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to clearly document procedures, training requirements, and safety processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple training initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficient with content development tools and training technology platforms.
  • Strong understanding of hazard recognition, risk mitigation, and construction safety best practices.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in office, classroom, and active construction site environments.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while conducting training sessions.
  • Ability to walk active jobsites, navigate uneven terrain, and climb stairs or ladders as needed.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work in varying environmental conditions.
