Registered Nurse (RN) | Outpatient Surgery

Pay: $60 to $63 per hour
Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

TravelNurseSource is working with Conflux Systems Inc to find a qualified Outpatient Surgery RN in State College, Pennsylvania, 16801!

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our General Surgery team in a busy outpatient surgical practice. The RN will provide professional nursing care, patient education, clinical triage, and care coordination while supporting a team of General and Colorectal Surgeons. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced ambulatory care environment.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• One shortened 6-hour day per week to maintain a 40-hour workweek
• No weekends or holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Room and assess patients during clinic visits.
• Triage new patient referrals and obtain necessary records from outside facilities.
• Perform pre-operative and post-operative telephone triage.
• Provide patient education regarding surgical procedures, recovery, and treatment plans.
• Assist providers with in-office procedures.
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal as ordered.
• Complete FMLA, disability, and other patient-related documentation.
• Collaborate with surgeons, patients, families, and caregivers to coordinate care.
• Assist front desk staff with clinically related patient concerns.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced outpatient General Surgery practice.
• Clinical team supports:
  • 4 Full-Time General Surgeons
  • 1 General Surgeon (0.6 FTE)
  • 1 Oral Surgeon (0.4 FTE)
  • 1 Full-Time Colorectal Surgeon
• Located in the Toftrees Medical Building.
• 12 clinical rooms including 3 procedure rooms and 9 exam rooms.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and assist patients throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required.
• May be exposed to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, and other healthcare-related hazards.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Preferred

• Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
• Previous surgical clinic, ambulatory care, medical-surgical, or triage experience.
• Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills.
